The terminal apparatus updates area definition information defining the structure of storage areas in the non-volatile storage medium so that the storage area the use of which is restricted is in a state which cannot be recognized by the operating system, if the acquired setting information indicates that the use of the storage area is restricted. The terminal apparatus performs activation processing of the operating system after the update processing of the area definition information ends, if the acquired setting information indicates that the use of the storage area is restricted.
