A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a web server, comprising a controller to receive a request for authentication from a plurality of set-top boxes operating in an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system via a service enablement device; authenticate the plurality of set-top boxes using a remote authentication dial in user service (RADIUS); and enable service to the plurality of set-top boxes based on the authentication using the RADIUS.
