The RS checks whether the status of each of a plurality of ranging codes received from one or more mobile stations (MSs) corresponds to “success”, “continue”, or “abort”, and generates and transmits a message requesting at least one of a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) allocation information element and a bandwidth, thereby efficiently performing a ranging process.
