A method of establishing defined morphologies of separated phases in thin coats, in which anisotropic particles (T) whose average particle diameter (D) is 50 are introduced into the coating material used to produce said coats and comprises at least one polymer (P1), at least one polymer (P2) which is incompatible with the polymer (P1) in the solid phase and/or a crosslinking agent (V) which is incompatible with the polymer (P1) in the solid phase, where the polymers (P1) and/or (P2) have at least one functional group (a) which reacts during curing of the coating material to form covalent bonds. The disclosed coating material is applied to an uncoated substrate and/or to a precoated substrate and then cured and can be used in producing antistonechip OEM coat systems.
