The apparatus (1) is equipped with an exposure time setting portion (12b) that sets the exposure time for each element group during imaging, and an exposure time for carrying out multiple exposures during one imaging cycle is set for at least one element group. In addition, the apparatus (1) is equipped with a motion detecting portion (12c) that detects motion information for images from multiple intermediate image data read corresponding to the multiple exposures by said element group, and a motion blur compensating portion (12d) that corrects the intermediate image data read from the other element groups using said motion information, and a pickup image is generated based on the multiple intermediate image data and the corrected intermediate image data.
