An object of the present invention is to provide a lens barrier unit that can further reduce the retraction space of lens barriers. A lens barrier unit of the present invention includes a barrier case 204 having an opening 250; and multiple spherical barriers 202 and 203 provided so as to pivot about a pivotal axis. The barriers 202 and 203 can be shifted between a first state for closing the opening 250 and a second state for opening the opening 250. In the second state, the barriers 202 and 203 are all stored in the lower part of the barrier case 204.
