Provided are compositions containing a compatible mixture of a cationic surfactant and an anionic surfactant. A composition according to the invention comprises: (a) a first surfactant of formula I: wherein R, R1, R2, and R3 Y, X, and n are as defined below; (b) a second surfactant that is oppositely charged to the first surfactant.
