A needle has a first portion projecting out from the body and a second portion projecting into a space within the body. The body includes at least one of; at least one slot separating flexible portions which can be deflected outwardly to cause release of an engagement between the body and a proximal end of the injection device, at least one slot separating flexible portions which can be deflected outwardly to cause release of a thread engagement, at least one frangible connection arranged on the body, at least one indicator arrangement on the body which provides a visual indication that the pen needle has been previously used, and at least one spacing separating two generally semi-circular or generally semi-cylindrical flexible portions which can be deflected outwardly.
