摘要：
A method and apparatus for performing ranging at a Machine to Machine (M2M) device in a wireless communication system are disclosed. The method includes receiving an Advanced Air Interface-System Configuration Descriptor (AAI-SCD) message including a M2M ranging indicator indicating M2M ranging configuration, and performing ranging according to the M2M ranging configuration, if the M2M ranging configuration does not prohibit network reentry wherein the M2M ranging configuration is one of normal ranging, M2M dedicated ranging, and M2M network reentry prohibition.
