Provided are an additive for a lithium battery electrolyte, wherein the additive is an ethylene carbonate based compound represented by the following Formula 1 or 2, an organic electrolyte solution including the additive, and a lithium battery including the organic electrolyte solution: in the above Formulae, R1, R2, R3, and R4 are each independently a non-polar functional group or a polar functional group, the polar functional group including a heteroatom belonging to groups 13 to 16 of the periodic table of elements, and one or more of R1, R2, R3, and R4 are the polar functional groups.
