A method and device providing control power for an electrical grid. An energy generator feeds energy to the electrical grid as necessary, an energy consumer takes up energy from the electrical grid as necessary, and an energy store is connected to the electrical grid for providing the control power. The energy store starting from a first time point outputs to the electrical grid at least a difference between power provided by the energy generator and a nominal power or takes up from the electrical grid at least a difference between the power taken up by the energy consumer and the nominal power. The energy store provides at least this difference between the nominal power and the power provided by the energy generator or the power taken up by the energy consumer until power of the energy generator or of the energy consumer reaches the nominal power at a second time point.
