The mobile terminal, which is in a locked state for restricting reception of a user's control command, includes: a body; a sensing unit configured to sense a posture of the body; a display unit configured to output a lock screen in the locked state; and a controller configured to convert the locked state into a released state, if a touch for releasing the locked state is applied to the display unit, wherein the controller performs one or more controls related to at least one of the locked state and the released state, according to a posture of the body sensed upon input of the touch.
