An augmented reality tag clipper system, comprising a computing device comprising a processor and a data storage device, an image server communicatively coupled to the computing device, and a repository server communicatively coupled to the computing device and image server, in which the computing device comprises a virtual content clipping module which receives virtual content associated with an object in a digital image, receives instructions to clip the virtual content, and causes the clipped virtual content to be sent to the repository server. A method of clipping virtual content comprising, with a processor, receiving virtual content from an image server on a computing device clipping an amount of virtual content from the virtual content, and sending clipped virtual content to a repository server.
