Methods and related systems for managing charging information in a machine-to-machine (M2M) network are disclosed. The methods generally allow the central node in a M2M network responsible for managing charging events to receive the necessary information without having to process every request. The methods generally allow communication nodes in the M2M network to process and route requests to access resources without having the central node having to process the requests. Still, the methods involve the transmission, by the communication nodes, of charging-related information or notifications to the central node to allow the central node to properly monitor and manage the charging information.
