Embodiments are disclosed for a device used in diagnosing errors in an AVB communication system. In some embodiments, a device includes a communication interface communicatively connectable to another device in a communication network and configured to transmit data via the communication network, a processor, and a storage device that stores instructions executable by the processor to collect data from one or more AVB messages transmitted between the device and the other device in the communication network. The instructions are further executable to extract diagnostic data from the one or more AVB messages, and transmit the diagnostic data to an interface device for display.
