Between successive transport rollers work piece support elements are positioned which are at a higher level than the transport rollers when the transport rollers are in the lower position, and at the same level or at a lower level the transport rollers are in the upper position, wherein the workpiece support elements are configured to leave a saw band workrange clear in which the saw band can extend.
