Systems and methods to facilitate the submission of user images that are descriptive of a location or point of interest are provided. One example computer-implemented method includes determining a location at which a first image was captured by a mobile computing device. The method includes obtaining one or more semantic descriptors that semantically describe the location at which the first image was captured. The method includes analyzing the first image to determine one or more subjects of the first image. The method includes determining whether the one or more subjects of the first image are related to the one or more semantic descriptors that semantically describe the location. When it is determined that the one or more subjects of the first image are related to the one or more semantic descriptors that semantically describe the location, the method includes providing a user of the mobile computing device with an opportunity to associate the first image with the location.
