A method of synchronizing transmission of signals from a network node to a receiver includes generating a synchronization signal transmission pattern in which transmission resources used for transmission of the synchronization signals in regularly spaced time intervals are changed in successive ones of the time intervals, and transmitting synchronization signals from the network node in accordance with the synchronization signal transmission pattern.
