The electronic device includes a housing including a first surface oriented in a first direction, a second surface oriented in a second direction opposite to the first direction, a first side member slidable in a third direction different from the first direction and the second direction, and a second side member facing away from the first side member, a flexible display including a first region oriented in the first direction and a second region extending from the first region and oriented in the second direction opposite to the first direction, a plate configured to support at least a portion of the flexible display and to perform a sliding movement to cause at least a portion of the second region to be oriented in the first direction so as to substantially enable expansion of the first region, at least one member configured to enable the sliding movement of the plate through a rotational motion, and a rotation detection sensor configured to detect a degree of rotation while the at least one member rotates about a rotating axis.
