A first communication device receives first information from a second communication device, and send the second communication device an SL DRX configuration corresponding to an SL connection between the first communication device and the second communication device, and the second communication device receives SL transmission from the first communication device based on the SL DRX configuration. In this way, the SL DRX configuration better satisfies a condition of transmission between the first communication device and the second communication device, and energy saving effect of a receive end of the SL connection is enhanced. The first information is used to determine the SL DRX configuration.
