The first housing portion and second housing portion are configured arrangeable in a first position, in which the first housing portion is extended relative to the second housing position, and in which the cavity is accessible for insertion of the aerosol-generating article. The first housing portion and second housing portion are configured arrangeable in a second position, in which the second housing portion is retracted at least partly within the cavity.
