An example method may include receiving downlink control information (DCI) indicating at least a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state from a network entity at a first time. The example method may further include applying a second TCI state or a third TCI state to receive a scheduled downlink transmission based on a difference between the first time and a second time associated with the scheduled downlink transmission, where the difference is smaller than a threshold and based on a default TCI state condition.
