One apparatus in a mobile communication network includes a transceiver that receives, from a mobile wireless communication network, a positioning configuration defining a positioning configuration timeline and a measurement and processing time window for the UE The apparatus includes a processor that performs at least one positioning measurement for the UE according to the positioning processing timeline in response to receiving the positioning configuration. The transceiver sends a positioning measurement report comprising the at least one positioning measurement and measurement timeline performed of the at least one positioning measurement within the configured time window from the UE to the mobile wireless communication network.
