In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may start, from a last transmission of a reference signal resource, a known transmission control indicator (TCI) duration during which a TCI state switch command is to be received. The known TCI duration may end after a maximum time duration and may exclude an invalid period. The UE may receive the TCI state switch command during the known TCI duration.
