In this application, a load balancing device receives a first message, where the first message includes the first hash algorithm information of the load balancing mode of the first communication device and the information about the first quantity of first ports of the first communication device. The load balancing device determines the second hash algorithm information of the load balancing mode of the second communication device based on the first hash algorithm information and the information about the first quantity.
