The anchoring members are configured to secure the covering membrane within the blood vessel. The covering membrane is configured to pocket a diseased area of the blood vessel. The anchoring members are configured to sufficiently attach the covering membrane to the intima of the blood vessel when the stent is subjected to blood flow, fixing the covering membrane in the intended implantation position. The covering membrane can pocket the unstable plaque on the blood vessel intima, preventing rupture of the unstable plaque.
