The method can comprise administrating a treatment comprising inhibiting angiogenesis and a PLK1 inhibitor (for example, onvansertib) to the subject that has not received prior anti-angiogenic treatment, in a manner sufficient to reduce or inhibit progression of the metastatic cancer.
