TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR HETEROGENEOUS TERRESTRIAL AND SATELLITE NETWORKS
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining first data associated with a plurality of user equipment devices that are communicating with at least one access point of a wireless terrestrial network, wherein the first data indicates a respective location of each user equipment device, a respective in-use wireless frequency that each user equipment device is using for communicating with the at least one access point, and one or more respective potential wireless frequencies that each user equipment device is capable of using for wireless communication; obtaining second data associated with a satellite access point of a wireless non-terrestrial network, wherein the second data indicates a current location of the satellite access point, a future predicted location of the satellite access point, and one or more wireless satellite frequencies that will be available for use by the satellite access point when at the future predicted location in order to communicate with one or more of the user equipment devices; and selecting, based upon the first and second data, at least one user equipment device of the plurality of user equipment devices to offload its data communication to the satellite access point.
