Beta -Aralkylthio-substituted- Alpha -amino acids and derivatives thereof useful as antiinflammatory agents are described. A process for preparing some of these amino acids by reaction of the corresponding aldehydes or ketones in the Strecker or hydantoin synthesis is shown.
