A PROCESS OF FORMING A CATHODOLUMINESCENT SCREEN OF A CATHODE RAY TUBE WHEREIN THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PHOSPHOR MATERIAL, I.E., PARTICLE DENSITY, BULK DENSITY, ATOMIC WEIGHT, ATOMIC NUMBER AND AVERAGE PARTICLE SIZE ARE RELATED IN A MANNER TO PROVIDE A SCREEN HAVING A PRESCRIBED PHOSPHOR WEIGHT AND THICKNESS TO EFFECT EFFICIENT UTILIZATION OF THE LUMINESCENT BRIGHTNESS OF THE RESPECTIVE PHOSPHOR MATERIAL WHEN EXCITED BY SUBSEQUENT ELECTRON BEAM IMPINGEMENT.
