An apparatus and method of forming a twisted yarn and a doubled cord in which yarn twisting is carried out by feeding a yarn by means of a feed device into a rotating hollow member, temporarily storing the yarn and subsequently reversing the direction of the feed device to remove the yarn and give it further twist.
