A method and an apparatus for finishing pneumatic tires in which a comblike blade supported on a swingable holder is brought into slight contact with one shoulder of a tread of a rotating tire at a certain angle and then moved in a direction at right angles to the rotating axis of the tire and a pair of comblike blades supported on respective swingable holders are brought into slight contact with the sides of the rotating tire and then moved toward each other to cause the comblike blades to sweep over the sectional profiles in a tangential direction, thereby trimming spew pips on the molded and vulcanized tires in succession and automatically detecting difference in sectional profile regardless of sizes and kinds of tires.
