A selenomethionine-.sup.75 Se-solution, which is suitable for use as a radioactive diagnostic material in medical science applications, is stabilized with regard to maintaining its radiochemical purity by the addition of a thiol of the formulaHS--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --CHR--CO--NH--CH.sub.2 --COOHin which formula n is 0 or 1 and R is a methyl group when n is 0 and a glutamyl group when n is 1.
