Instead of the axes of the wheels passing each other with a finite minimum spacing as with nested godet wheel frames, the axes (18, 19) are in a common plane and intersect at a point (20) outside the thread control zone in the plane of a centering disc (23.1) fast on one of the wheels. The drive is transmitted from one wheel to the other through the centering disc.
