A light-sensitive silver halide photographic material having a support and at least one silver halide emulsion layer on the support. At least one layer of the silver halide emulsion layer contains a compound of the Formula I ##STR1## wherein Z represents a group of non-metallic atoms necessary to complete a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring which may have a substituent; X represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent capable of being split off upon reaction with an oxidation product of a color developing agent; and R represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and a compound represented by formula 1R.sup.1 (O).sub.n SO.sub.3 Mwherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group; M represents a hydrogen atom or a cation and n is 0 or 1.
