Pest-combating agents, especially as insecticides, which are 1-arylpyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, alkyl or halogenoalkyl,R.sup.2 represents alkyl, halogenoalkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl or optionally substituted aryl,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl or halogenoalkyl,R.sup.4 represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkenyl, halogenoalkinyl or in each case optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl,X represents oxygen, sulphur or an N-alkyl radical,Ar represents in each case optionally substituted phenyl or pyridyl,m represents a number 0 or 1 andn represents a number 0, 1 or 2,have been found.
