New chemical compounds are derivatives of certain substituted 1,4-napthoquinones in which the keto oxygens at the 4-positions have been replaced by certain cyanoalkoxycarbonylmethylene groups. The new compounds have the structure ##STR1## wherein: J is alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, andR is normal alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.The compounds are useful as electron-transport agents in electrophotographic elements.
