Novel herbicidally active 5-chloro-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yloxy-acetamides of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another represent alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl or optionally substituted cycloalkenyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyleneoxy or alkoxy, aralkyl or optionally substituted aryl orR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 conjointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded represent an optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated heterocyclic ring which can contain further hetero-atoms and to which a benzene radical can be fused.
