.alpha.-Hydroxyazolylethyloxiranes of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, phenyl, biphenyl, naphthyl or pyridyl, these radicals being unsubstituted or substituted, and X is CH or N, their plant-tolerated acid addition salts and metal complexes, and fungicides containing these compounds.
