The present invention provides a 2,2′-bis(6-benzotriazolylphenol) compound represented by the formula wherein A represents a methylene group or the like, R1 and R5 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or the like, R3 represents an alkylene group or the like, and R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. The compound of the invention is useful as an UV absorber. Further, the compound of the invention can be incorporated into a copolymer by copolymerization with a vinyl monomer, and a polymer composition containing the copolymer can be used as an UV absorber.
