A registration unit registers the identification information of the partner station in a memory, so that whether the partner station is a speech or data communication terminal can be discriminated later. A control unit checks if the identification information receiving unit receives the identification information of the calling party. When the identification information of the calling party is received, the control unit checks if the-received identification information is registered in the memory, and selectively executes a speech communication process and a data communication process in accordance with the checking result and the detection result of the second detecting unit.
