The light emitting layer containing a fluorescent first compound, and at least a portion of the light emitting layer also containing a second compound which absorbs a first fluorescence generated by the first compound and emits a second fluorescence of a longer wavelength than the first fluorescence. The concentration of the second compound has a gradient along a thickness direction of the light emitting layer perpendicular to the plane.
