A circuit arrangement for generating an X-ray tube voltage is described, wherein a switching device, connected downstream of a voltage controller (Gsu) and a oscillating current controller (Gri), operable to compare a first controlling variable value (Yu(t)) and a second controlling variable value (Yz(t)) and is operable to send the lesser of the first and second controlling variable values (Yu(t) and Yz(t) onward as a resultant controlling variable value (Y(t)) to the inverse rectifier circuit (Gsi).
