An intake port extends substantially rearwardly from an upper portion of a cylinder head of the engine, and a fuel injection apparatus for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber through the intake port, is disposed in the proximity of the cylinder head. A mounting boss is provided on an outer face of the intake port rearwardly of the fuel injection apparatus. The fuel injection apparatus is mounted on the mounting boss.
