A cable unwinder/rewinder with continuous electrical connection which is suitable for use with heavy gauge cable and in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. A general embodiment is comprised of a frame; a user-side reel; a slack-side reel and a slack take-up mechanism. Exemplary embodiments of the slack take-up mechanism are a power pivotal arm, a spring loaded arm, a extension spring assembly, a compression spring assembly and a dual real assembly.
