An orientation film formed on a nearest surface to the liquid crystal layer on substrate has an initial orientation direction. At least one of the pixel electrode and the counter electrode has a first region and a second region, and an angle formed by the first region and the initial orientation direction is substantially same in absolute value and reverse in polarity to an angle formed by the second region and the initial orientation direction. A length of the first region and the second region are substantially equal.
