The present invention relates to cyclopenta[a]naphthalene derivatives of the general formulae I to V in which B, Z, A, n, R, X1, X1a, X1b, X2, X3, E1 and E2 are as defined in the claims, to the use thereof in liquid-crystalline media, to liquid-crystalline media comprising at least one of these cyclopenta[a]naphthalene derivatives, and to electro-optical display elements containing these liquid-crystalline media.
