An enterprise services framework interface is provided for receiving a service request from a service consumer for performing a database access and a database for storing transactional data. Further, repository means may be provided for storing data descriptive of business objects and for storing data descriptive of a buffer object, and processor means may be provided for execution of an application program. In addition, a main memory may be provided for storing an instance of the buffer object, wherein the instance of the buffer object contains at least one instance of one of the business objects. Methods for accessing a database and methods for calling an application program are also disclosed.
