The first substrate includes first photo spacers (37) and a first alignment film (301) formed on the first photo spacers. The second substrate includes a light-shield film (36), second photo spacers (38) formed above the light-shield film, and a second alignment film (302) formed on the second photo spacers. The first and the second photo spacers are covered by the light-shield film, and alignment defect areas of the first alignment film and the second alignment film are also covered by the light-shield film.
