A smoking article includes a carbon monoxide reducing agent including particles including a calcium aluminate represented by the formula (CaO)m(Al2O3)n, where 1/6≦m/n≦4/1, wherein the particles have a BET specific surface area of 2 m2/g or more and less than 20 m2/g.
